We’ve read and heard a number of stories like this one in recent years. The attachment between law enforcement and military personnel with the dogs they serve next to every day. Far too often, red tape gets involved and these partners sometimes never see each other again. In this case, all one man wanted to do was have his buddy by his side in retirement.
Dogs like Baro are highly trained and skilled. It takes a lot of money to give them the necessary skills to do their job, and because they are not human, they are often treated as property. So wrong on so many levels. Time was a lot of these service animals were simply euthanized or sent to shelters with no hope. This story has the happy ending is so richly deserves.

Can’t tell you how many times I hear about dogs that are “untrainable”, or people who want to use shock collars to train their dogs, or those who just take the easy way out and dump their dogs into a shelter. Would you do that to one of your kids??? 99.9% of the time it’s the owner that is untrainable or doesn’t put in the work. Here’s another great example of a dog that was heading down a dark path because no one tried. and now she’s wearing the badge.

There is no doubt dogs are so protective of their families, and here’s an example where not even a rattlesnake could keep this defender from ensuring his family was safe. Last word Todd is going to be just fine, and I’ll bet when his face gets better there’s going to be LOTS of extra treats in the bowl. Right, Paula?

I’ve got a big heart for firefighters and first responders, the men and women who throw themselves into danger without a second thought. In Stockton CA, there’s a pup lucky to be alive after the responders there ensure everyone, even the 4-legged version, got out safe and alive.
Nice going, people.

The heat wave making it’s way across the country is nothing to joke about when it comes to the fuzzy kids. There are days we can’t even take ours outside because it’s like a furnace out there. But some are making it work for the kids. It doesn’t look cheap, but I’ll wager they haven’t heard a dog complain yet.

In the UK, one woman has taken it upon herself to make the final days for every dog something they will take with them into forever. Dogs may have no sense of time, but they sure have a sense of love and compassion. This one brought me to tears, and I would urge you to learn more about the program. There are similar ones around the world, and these people are something special.
